Red Sox John Farrell has always been a class act. And now he’s cancer free.
At times, John Farrell said, there were seven different medicines coursing through his veins. Days when he was in a hospital bed for seven to 10 hours connected to IV tubes — what would normally be six months of chemotherapy crammed into eight weeks because of the aggressive nature of the malignant cells that had invaded his body.
What I found inspiring was that former Sox manager Terry Francona called Farrell each day. They say baseball is America’s favorite past time. In their friendship we see the best of America.
